I've been looking at the specs sheet from Panasonic and it says that it's view finder is "Live view". I don't quite understand how it could have dots?

VIEWFINDER- Type Live View Finder (1,440,000 dots equivalent)

Field of view Approx. 100%

Magnification Approx. 1.4x / 0.7x (35mm camera equivalent) with 50mm lens at
infinity; -1.0 m-1

Eye point Approx.17.5mm from eyepiece lens

Diopter adjustment -4.0 ~ +4.0 m-1

It's an electronic viewfinder. The GH1 is mirrorless, not like your traditional SLRs. Because of this, it's a "live view" viewfinder--it's on while recording. Quite a bit more detailed and easier to focus with than the LCD too.

Well with it's huge (in comparison to most point-and-shots) sensor and ability to adapt pretty much any lens you can find to it, I'd say it's a far cry from a point-and-shoot :)
