VidLed??

So what the heck is up with those guys still not selling lights?

Portland had the first DVXUser meetup in a long time and someone brought their DayLed and it was a hit! I'd say about 4 guys now want to buy one that hadn't even heard of it.

If only Vidled was shipping...

VidLed's been out of commission for a bit - not sure when they're going to be back up - surprised it's not already.

I know they were selling some demo housings in the interim while they were trying to get casing molds redone.

It's an amazing light. Sad to see him going without sales for this long.

Couldn't wait any longer (since sometime last year if I recall correctly) so I recently snapped up a couple of used Deluxe's from the Marketplace here and I gotta say, I just love 'em already. Seriously, I can't put the damn things down!

It's already been expounded upon in various posts, but these portable and dimmable little guys are incredibly useful for adding anything from touches to splashes of light in a variety of situations; I can already see using them quite a bit. Sturdy and well built to boot; I think I may have to add a few more to the kit...

Has anyone heard from Vidled when they'll be up and running? The site still says "WE EXPECT NEW HOUSINGS EARLY APRIL." Early April was a month ago. I emailed them last week, no response. Tried to leave a message by phone but their mailbox is full. I have to get an on camera light before a trip to Greece in June. If Vidled doesn't deliver soon they're going to lose my business.

As good as vidleds are I'd either get a different light or try and find one used. I ran into the same problem (needed more on cam lights) and went with the zylight. They cost alot more, but damn if they arent amazing little lights.

I'd love to get a used dayled. Any advice on where I should look besides the dvxuser marketplace?
jdajda, what zylight(s) do you have? They do look pretty sweet.

I have two Z90's. The ability to change color balance and actual color is amazing. And they have a nice bright, even beam. The only downside would be the glare and all LED's I've seen have that problem. A little diffusion or a softbox takes care of it though.

Yeah, the zylights look real nice. I wish I could afford them!
Are there any other LED light options out there that are more affordable?

Varizoom used to have one but it seems to have dissappeared. Litepanels has the micro, its small and cheap, and the fact that it takes AA's kinda turns me off. Build quality looks suspect as well.

Well, I knew the housing was crappy but if the output is "abysmal", that clinches it for me. Would be nice to have a compact fill light for those on the spot interviews in the shade but just can't afford to throw away $300 :thumbdown
