I got hired to tape NYC mayor Bloomberg yesterday at City Hall in the Governor's Room. Very interesting shoot, and the 300 worked great. I shot at 720-30P DVCPro-HD, but it will be all shown in standard def. He used a prompter and talked about Dystonia, a disease similar to Parkinson's. It will be played at the beginning of a fundraiser event. Here is a shot of my stuff.

I like the look of you image :) and as for your gear setup i am now officially drooling..

Well done there i bet the Mayor was impressed with the results too:laugh:

I wish I understood more about these tele-prompters. Some of the clients I work with would LOVE one of those. How do you point the lens through it and not have issues?

Nice setup, looks like a perfect one-man-band rig.

The screen is reflected up into a half-silvered glass (generally allowing either 60% or 70% of the incoming light to pass through to the lens, while the other 40%/30% is reflected from the prompter). The reflection is only directed out towards the talent, so (assuming the glass is clean) you'll never see the prompter in the camera image.

They usually come with either a free-standing mount (like the one davideo.net posted that's mounted on a C-stand or rolling stand) for locked-off shots, or integrated into a camera sled so you can move the camera and prompter as one unit on a tripod or pedestal.

Our biggest problem with them is usually the cost. Around here, at least, they generally run around $350/day minimum, plus the day rate for an operator. For lower-budget jobs, we built one for about the cost of a single day rental that works just fine, and we can supply our own operator.

Have a look at the iPhone app Pro Prompter... should be sweet with an iPad...

I've got one... will probably get an iPad but hey we're only released yesterday in Oz...

Cheers

For the Bloomberg shoot we rented a prompter w/operator from teleprompting.com I don't need one often enough to buy one!
