Videos being .5 second off sync when uploading to Vimeo HELP!

Hey guys,

I have had this happen to me before, and I dont know what the deal is at all. When I upload to vimeo, my shots are about half a second off with the music. Why? I have no idea. Everything was in 29.97 FPS when uploaded to vimeo. My settings were exports h.264, 1920x1080, frame recording yes, key frames every 24 seconds, frame rate 29.97, mulit pass, quality high. Sound settings are: sample rate 48khz, sample size 16bit, format integer.

It plays fine when I just play the final exported copy on my hard drive. Its just when I upload to vimeo, I guess something went wrong.

Please Help!!!

Just out of curiosity, where did you come up with your compression settings? And are you exporting straight out of FCP using Compressor or QuickTime conversion? It's better to export a FCP movie, self-contained, at current project settings. Then, quit FCP and use Compressor or MPEG StreamClip to convert from there whether for Internet upload or for DVD or for mobile devices. My guess is there's something in the formatting of your uploaded file that's tripping up Vimeo's compression.

Vimeo's HD is 720p, not 1080p. Also, there's no need to bother with key frames (set to "all" or to match the frame rate) or frame "recording" (reordering?). As for audio, try setting it to AAC, 44.1kHz, 320kbps.

Have you checked out their "Compression guidelines" page?

I have checked the vimeo guidelines page. Im exporting directly from FCP using quicktime conversion. Usually, I would export in 720p, but it still is off sync both ways. So you recommend I just export from FCP in just ProRes (codec I edited in) then take that into compressor and export that with h.264? I will also try those settings you told me and see if it still is acting up.
