Video Preview full screen shortcut?

Is there a shortcut to toggle the video preview from a small window with good-half to big window with best-full?

You can set up a custom layout and then get there with a keystroke combination. Will have to set the preview quality level yourself, though.

I personally use a secondary monitor, where the HD video is always full screen and 1:1 size. Worth every penny out of the $280 I paid.

Yes, 1:1 resolution. Any PC monitor that can do 1920x1200 is perfect for this job. So you basically have a base monitor that you do the editing, and a secondary monitor where you display full screen, at full size. I usually use "preview (full)" when I edit on the secondary monitor. My camera is an HDV one, so when its video is displayed, it's 1920x1080.

no sweat, I know all that. I'm running a 24" as my editing window and a 40" 1080p mon as the preview. just wondering how your able to watch previews at 1:1 with out the frame rate going to ****. im averaging 5-6fps with light effects over my footage. I also mainly work with HDV (sony flavor). I picked up a new system - dual xeon, 8 cores, 10+gigs or ram - so i can preview at high rez/quality. im pretty sure its vegas thats the prob, but if your getting good results, i wonder...

Plugins are only used at the very end, when the editing is completely done. So when I use preview(full) or preview(half) I am able to edit full speed, and at the very end add the plugins, which are always heavy -- that's normal.

I am using dual 24" 1920 x 1200 LCDs but if I set the quality to full Good or Full preview you have barely any usable space left over under the 1920 x 1080... though I am working on a 1920 x 800 which at least fits a histogram under there together with a few other things. I edit and do sound at Good Half, which leaves me plenty of room for everything I am using on the same window and the other monitor for the timeline all alone with ~15 tracks of video and audio visible.

Efexone, yea, it is Vegas... unfortunaltelly it is still quite slow. Which is a shame cause I love it so much.

Thanks David. I saved a few profiles, I bet I'll get them to where I want them soon enough.

Well, it's also HDV to blame . . . I don't get that kind of lag in Vegas with P2/DVCPRO footage, not even 1080p.

I use HDV and AVCHD, and HDV never has a problem in speed at preview/full. Besides, preview quality is the default on vegas, so switching to good/best qualities for the preview makes sense to not be full speed. AVCHD is only full speed on my new 2.4 Ghz quadcore PC, while HDV runs fine on my 4 year old P4 3 Ghz.

But DVCPRO, being less compressed and intraframe instead of interframe, is fine at Best/Full at full screen. Depending on the effects load, of course. So, HDV takes a toll on performance. Moreso for AVCHD.
