Video picked up by Yahoo, Inc

the performance shot with the train going in the background is sweet.
good use of b-roll.
editing could be a little bit more dynamic.
i like the song.
good stuff!

The quality looked pretty good. I think the editing could have been a little more creative. What editing software package did you use for this video?
And was this shot with the dvx100 or 100a?

Thnx. I used FCP 4.5, and I shot it with a 100b. I could've been more creative, but I didn't storyboard it. I just went out on a Saturday, shot footage, took it home, and made it into a video.

whats up with that rancid looking girl walking away from the camera?

Kick someone out of the house this morning dude? Then decide to film their victory walk of shame? sigh

p.s. how much did she cost? :D

Dude, you have no idea. lol I got footage of her walking from the front, and it was 10 times worse! Her dress was halfway down, and it looked like she had just been ran through. My skin crawls thinking about it.

great video!!! nice use of CC and available light. Can I ask why the movie file is almost 300mb? I also like the song... where can i find the artist or album?
The only thing i noticed that i didnt like was the use of the stray dog right on the lyric.... having the literal interpertation isnt the strongest idea, but nonetheless awesome job.

You got some nice slices o life in there.
All the landscape and people on the street footage looks really good, the low contrast look is very filmic. nice!

This is a video I shot for a friend of mine. It is getting play on some local video shows, and was picked up by Yahoo.

can you elaborate on what "picked up" means? did they pay you as a distributor to showcase it? How did it come to their attention? What are local video shows?

thanks and congrats!

mark.

It just means that yahoo will play the video in music launch. I originally emailed & called one of the people in charge of video content on music launch. When I emailed her, I also sent a compressed version of the video. She called me that night and left a message saying that they would play it. The only thing was I had to mail it in beta format. So, that's where we are right now. We're poor, so we didn't have it transferred immediately...and Andre is from Houston.

Man, that's cool. I am also going to get into a poor production too.
Anyway, there is nothing poor about your video in terms of quality. The shots are good, the feel is good and the editing is good.. so it's perfect.

I thought you had to be signed in order to get into yahoo. That's good news for me cuz I'm about to shoot this hiphop video for which I have great ideas for.. but since they are not signed to a label i thought it was only going to be part of a good EPK (electronic press kit - for peeps that don't know :) ). Didn't think we could get a chance to get into any outlet like that. It's a pity because these guys are GOOD. I heard the whole demo CD and I was amazed.

I am also going to make a punk rock video, but I think these guys have far more contacts and possibilities to open doors for themselves because of their promoters.

King Dontae,
I heard that transferring a video to DigiBeta and getting it Close Captioned can run up to $500 bucks! What have you run into?

Have your artist go get a dba with a record label name. This way, you can name a label when you send it in. Most would like you to get it cc'd, but you don't always have to. Whenever you submit your hip hop vid, I have submission forms for BET & Fuse. I can send them to you. As far as getting your stuff in beta format, that's a sep. charge from getting it cc'd.
