video out is funky- short in RCA

My camera is only a five months old and has been treated reasonably nicely; however, the RCA video out seems to have a short in it (wiggling the cable slightly causes the picture from the video out to flicker, etc.).

It's true, a BNC adapter and BNC cable are usually attached, but I always loop the cable through the handle for strain relief and otherwise try to prevent stress to the connector. It is surprising to me that it has developed problems so soon.

Has anyone dealt with this? (Hasn't everyone dealt with this?) Any luck getting it repaired? Any hackers able to replace the RCA with a BNC video out? Does this seem possible?
