Video Noise 720p vs 1080i

Hi guys!

Is it my imagination are 1080i-originated images on the HVX much noiser vs 720p?

I'm shooting some test footage, fooling around with different gammas, color matrices, etc. And while I haven't captured the footage and looked at it carefully, I screened it on a 42" LCD TV via component outputs on the cam, and same scene shot both on 720 and 1080 looked a lot noisier in 1080.

Any one else notice this?

I've just experienced this today.

My director wanted to shoot 1080i in hopes that we would be shooting our short film that way, but upon close inspection, it was noisier than 720P.

I'm kind of happy... I hate interlacing anyway.

The 1080i even looked noisier when we downsized it to 720.
