Video montage from India

I was in India for 6 weeks shooting a short film and kept the camera rolling after the film wrapped. My brother who's a photographer was also on this trip and recently had an exhibit showcasing many of his India photos. I decided to edit something with my extra footage and his photographs for the gala opening. This is the 15 minute video I presented:

Re: Video montage from India

Very nice, great photographs also!

Are we going to have a chance to see some footage of the film (trailer, anything)?

Good job

I think you overdid in compositing a litlle, took some of the strenght of the images in some points. (hehe, I hated that you showed the face of the little girl in pink half by half, It looked like a wedding video!) But that's just my personal preference. It was very well edited and the images were beautiful.

Re: Video montage from India

Awesome job!! The video looked fantastic; I would love to see the full film. Wow India is a beautiful country. What is the synopsis of the short?

BTW the photos are outstanding!!!!

Re: Video montage from India

You got some good looking shots in there. The opening shots of the setting sun looked especially nice. What software did you use for the "Ken Burns" effect on the stills? The motion looked very smooth.

Re: Video montage from India

Wow, that was great! You had some really awesome shots in there. I would also like to hear more about the context into which all you video is going.

Those sunset shots were also very beautiful. I think some of my favorite shots in there were of people either dancing or working.

Claude - Thats all keyframing in AE, FCP, Vegas, Avid...whatever software he used to edit. Ken Burns is an iMovie term I believe?

That was truly inspiring and amazing imagery. I honestly feel like I have taken a trip to India or if I did I would have an idea on what to expect. That was truly great work. Great job!

Your compositions were excellent. Very photographic and picturesque. Your editing only served to support the already obvious quality of the footage. My favorite shot was of a this tall building with similar windows and one window in particular had the suns reflection illuminating the panes of glass.

Wow. India looks like an amazing place to visit with a rich culture. This is how you use the DVX! Bravo!!!!! When I read it was 15 minutes I initially was like "Ooohh maaannn". But honestly worth every second. I look forward to more of your work!

:D

Re: Video montage from India

Bob, that was a trip... literally!

Very nicely done and you gave some great insight into what life is like there.

Excellent job!

Re: Video montage from India

Let me just pick my jaw up off the ground. Wow. That was truly inspired. Thank you for that. This may be the best example of the filmic qualities of this amazing little camera. All I can say is ....Matt who?

Just kidding Matt.

Re: Video montage from India

Thanks for all the kind words. I will be posting a trailer of the film we shot in India very shortly.

Re: Video montage from India

Some really nice photographies and compositions. India seem to have this particular richness in color and soft light. A nice trip in a rich culture of beautiful country. Keep on.

Actually this footage is not from the film. This footage was shot after we wrapped the film. I will post a trailer of the film soon.

Re: Video montage from India

Bob-

Nice work; definately makes me want to go there and meet the people!

The still photography was top-notch, so combined with your editing work, it really makes for an appealing presentation. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Video montage from India

Thanks again. My brother is a gifted photographer. Here in Toronto, there is a photography festival called Contact. My brothers exhibit is being shown at the NFB (National Film Board of Canada). The exhibit is bringing in so many people, they have asked him to extend it. He's even sold more than half of the 50 photos that are on display. This may sound like a shameless plug, but... you can also purchase them through his website.

Re: Video montage from India

Hey Bob,
good work again. I am showing to my Indian co-workers (programmers) here at work and they recognized India Gate in Deli (my friend lived there) as well as Amritsar.
It also got a "Why does he only show the beggars and poor sections?" (not me) but I think it was "tongue in cheek". They really like it!
