Video in on the DVX

I know you guys might think I'm nuts but I've read that there is a video input on the dvx. Is this true?

The reason I ask is that I have another camera which in certain circumstances I might want to use but that camera has no recording device. It has 370K pixel ccds and manual white balance so it should be at least a comparable picture.

The reason I might want to use this other camera and record to the DVX's DV is because this camera has interchangable lenses for long long shots, has better low light capabilities, and I even have a quick focus/zoom lense, that I can use to zoom from completely out to all the way in, in about 1 second, for those kung fu'ey super fast closeup zooms.

Anyway, does the DVX actually have composite in, and if so, what is the quality of video coming in, once its on the tape.

Thanks guys

Re: Video in on the DVX

Sure you can input a composite video signal and record it on the DVX. Set your DVX100 in VCR mode and the signal should show up (connections are the same as for output). Then press the two record buttons right above the volume adjustment to start recording. The quality... well it's composite, not more not less.

The s-video jack is also a video-in jack when in VCR mode.

To head off any confusion, be aware that there will be no 24P in this configuration. The DVX will record exactly what the other camera sees, operating like a tape deck... so if the other camera is 60i, the recording you get will be 60i, and it will be a recording that's equal to the quality of the image produced by the other camera.
