Hey guys,

I recently filmed something for my good friends youtube channel. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Lindsey Stirling (you should check her stuff out if your not), but she was hosting a contest for best parody and we gave it a shot.

I took the FS-100 out into the forest for a day with my blackbird stabilizer. It was beautiful natural lighting. Unfortunately, probably the worst possible circumstance with the FS-100 having to choose between exposing the highlights and completely crushing the blacks. You started to see the limitations of a smaller dynamic range camera. Overall though, I'm very happy with what I was able to get. A lot was able to be saved with color grading.

Anyways, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5J7mpFUXHw&hd=1

Good part kicks in at about 0:40

I was using the Sigma 20mm on the nikon novoflex adapter.

...compared to an Alexa!

Everything looked fine to me, the audience in not looking at your highlights if they you've really got a problem with the content. TV audiences see highlights like that every single day in REC709 land, it's a non issue.

I thought your video was just another example of where the FS100 shines in the hands of a competent user.

I'm really beginning to think about getting one of those Blackbirds. Any feedback you could give would be useful especially if you've used other stabilisers and could compare.

Cheers

Blackbird is worlds easier to balance than the merlin or glidecam. I love mine. With the FS-100, I can go for about 15ish minutes before I need a break. (not 15 continuous, but about 15 minutes worth of takes)

Thanks.

I've had it with the Merlin...

Hey, that's Katie Wilson! A friend of ours, she's been in some of our parodies on You Tube and such. Screen Team is our channel. Haha, great to see you posting the video on this forum. Also, great job on the video. Looks really good.
