Video event crop & Widescreen???

I currently have my project properties set to 864/480 with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.21. I crop my image to 720/270. I read this somewhere here about getting a more anamorphic look. I was wondering how would I go about getting rid of the black bars altogether from the picture?

yes!

instead of croppping it or exporting it as something, just open a project file with the frame size 720x270

then export it as a video and there will be no black bars on playback on computer, but of course on TV.

Ok. So maybe I'm a little confused about this one. If I wanted to open a project with 864/480 then crop it to 720/270 and didn't mind the letterbox bars would I use a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9091 (NTSC DV) or the 1.21??? It seems that with the 1.21 there are pixels showing deformation in the preview.
