Vice President Candidate Palin HD Footage - How to sell?

Well,
last Friday we sold 2 minutes of footage to CNN. The amount was pretty significant and carried a 3 week exclusive rights (so we couldn't sell to anyone else). Initially, they'd wanted to buy 30 minutes of footage at $125/second but they eventually settled on a lot less for a little more a second.

Kind of fun but exhausting. Anyway, when I get a chance I'll post contact info for all of the networks on here for others to use when they have a chance to sell footage.

Congratulations! You should be able to forge several agreements like this over the next few weeks. AP and Reuters are both very good places to solicit.

Well done.

I presume you called KTUU? They are *the* connection for Anchorage news from the big dogs down south. They've been handling loads and loads of liveshots since the news broke. They haven't been shooting much (any?) in HD yet, so they'd probabaly be interested too, either for themselves, or to pass on to the big guys.

Mikko,
Did you shoot that interview? That's funny / small world. That one plus the video we did years ago for Masters Commission here in Wasilla are the two videos freaking out the blogasphere.

The voiceover is actually me. Kind of funny because for most in the "youth" church movement, this style of intense, movie trailer video has become fairly commonplace. I don't attend their church but grew up in similar style churches and knew "catch phrases" that work really well for that audience.

Oh, and I sent a press release to KTUU. I also called one of the editors over at Syntax and tried to get him to shop it around.

They don't pay much and weren't real interested anyway.

The interesting thing is that none of the networks cared a lick that it was HD. They all wanted SD transfers of it. Most wanted it in Beta. Come on People!!!!

Yeah I shot the interview I linked to. I've seen it all over the place over the past week, from The Daily Show & Colbert Report to NBC Nightly News to BBC News. It was originally for CNBC (on July 31).

Total luck of the draw of course, and just a regular day at work when I shot it. Go figure.

Yeah, in TV news it's content over quality. And BETA just simply works. That's all that matters.
Plus the VAST majority of news video infrastructure (like satelite uplinks) are SD only anyway.
The clip I shot was standard SD and cabled as Composite video to the uplink.

CONGRATS!!!!

Were you able to get around $220 a second? It's amazing how many people in the industry low ball you then they turn around and sell it for many times more.
