Viability of 4K?

I think the sweet spot is really 2k/1080p.

I agree that 1080P is the sweet spot. Last year I got my 5th feature film into theaters and quickly learned that my footage, acquired for the first time in 4K, was to be downrezzed to 2K for the DCP because few theaters (I was told) had 4K projectors. When I saw it on the huge screens I was blown away by how good it looked and realized that if it were in 4K, it would just show flaws in the actors skin or makeup and make it worse, not better.

lol, is anyone watching the game right now?

I am, lol. Most hockey I've ever watched. Don't even need no glowing puck. Impressive seeing them cut between those shots. Those guys without headgear are making me nervous. Hope they dont get hurt - oh I forgot it isnt live ;)

Playoff hockey is the best. I guess you can say that about every sport, but hockey gets really crazy during the playoffs.

I literally don't watch a single game during the regular season.

We've entered the MP3 era of visuals. You'll always have the diehard people who want the best home theater setup, but you'll have more that are fine with DVD/HD Streaming on their 55" TV with sound bar. That or their laptop or smart phone.

So while I think electronic companies will keep pushing it forward, less and less people will care as time goes on.

So true! MP3 video analogy hits it right on the head.
