VG20 image and specs

If they fixed moire and aliasing, this will be one nice camera. I have the VG-10 and the ergonomics are just great. It's a nice guerilla cam.

Lets hope they don't cripple the image quality too much. Fs100 b-cam maybe. Get this one first then Fs100 body only.

Call me crazy, but I kinda prefer the design and overall layout style of the VG-10/VG-20 to that of the FS-100. Not that I don't think the FS-100 has some nice features ergonomics-wise, like the modularity. Although, if the VG-20 is the same body design as the VG-10, then it is small enough that I don't need it to be modular. Also, I like having a separate viewfinder and flip out LCD screen built into the camera.

I know the Sony A77 has a lot of buzz about it, but I am surprised a VG-10 upgrade with AVCHD 2.0 and 24p isn't attracting more attention.

I think part of the lack of interest comes from the fact that the vg10 missed the mark so badly. I am cautiously optimistic that they got it right this time. There is always the negativity that it will be crippled because of the fs100. And it is to some extent. You are not going to get xlr on a consumer line camera, never, but I will slap on a juiced link to save $4000. High end narrative audio is going to be double system anyway. Boom to mixer-uncompressed audio recorder, reference feed from mixer to juicedlink or beachtec, done.

If the video quality it there, I'm sold. Even the surround mic might be cool in some situations for collecting sound effects and ambiance tracks.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how the touch screen focus pulls and tracking work in real world situations. If this also works on a-mount lenses via the new adaptor it could be a real game changer. I noticed there is also a remote jack, remote focus pulling anyone, one can hope.

Again, if they knocked out the moire and aliasing I too will go for it.
I have the VG-10, hvx200, af100, gh2, 5dmk2, T21, hxv9. I've never been asked to stop filming with the vg-10 and that is why I like it. You can't really say you're on vacation with a kitted out, or non kitted our af100 or fs100. The vg-10 just has great ergonomics.
I hope they fixed the tripod plate as well.
We shall see though if this is a fs100 little brother. I hope it is.

i think this is going to be a great little documentary camera. once birger comes out with their mount. all my canon glass with able to work on this guy. i have to say i agree i like the ergonomics on this camera more than the fs100. and dolby sound on the mic is pretty great too. guess it just all boils down to image quality. but at the very least a nice bcam for fs100 or even f3...

Little camera? LOL! This cam is as good as anything out there now. With all the new implementations this is a biggie now. Scarlet where are thou?

I know right? Last year at this time people everywhere where screaming for a camera exactly like this, and now it's just a little B-Cam for home videos. Oh, the irony

I suppose no ND filter? If the VG10's video artifacts are improved and the manual audio level control reveals a usable preamp, could be a very interesting choice. Would be nice if 30p was available. Maybe there is a way to adjust in camera for a more Panny gamma? The promo clip feels pretty Sony..not surprisingly.

What will they do with their Cine-alta line and other hight end camera if they did it. I am really hopping for uncompressed hdmi output from this cam, it would make it a game changer in that it would really be the first camcorder to really rival the DSLR, I mean on a value to money basis.

LOL! Never satisfied. But this cam looks very good so far.
