GH5 Veydra: One Unhappy Camper

Maybe I'm missing something, but if this is the entirety of your complaint I think it would fit in a post here. That way other interested parties won't need to follow the link to see what happened:

I placed an order with Veydra on February 11th for a set of three Fuji X-mounts. On Monday, it will have been three weeks since Veydra charged my credit card nearly $450, yet, to the best of my knowledge, the mounts still have not shipped. I emailed their sales department on the 25th and I wrote to Jim Zhang, designer of the Mini Primes, but I still haven’t gotten a reply.

Hopefully it gets resolved.

I’ll be sure to let everyone know when it gets resolved, but if you spent $85.00 for shipping, waited 3 weeks and received no response from sales or one of the founders, I think you’d be slightly upset as well. And at the moment, I would recommend purchasing from a local dealer rather than ordering from their website. Please don’t blame the messenger - I already tried contacting Veydra by two channels, to no avail. And this is the first time I’ve ever been charged for camera gear and not received either a notification of delivery or a response from the company.

Yeah, that is not on, at all.

Its even more shocking, if true that if Veydra is no longer active, why is their website still up, with no mention of recent issues and why is their online shop still open - very poor!

Call credit card company, cancel all charges, buy from a stocking dealer. Problems solved in about 2 minutes.

Though I have no idea how Veydra is doing financially, I can only imagine they were insured for the theft of the 200+ lenses, & think we shouldn’t be starting rumors of their demise.

I’ve had issues ordering from, & communicating with, much larger companies that specialize in cine gear, & suggest cancelling your order, then purchasing from one of their vendors, specifically Hot Rod Cameras, or Duclos.

HRC is a boutique shop that’s caters to our industry, & known for their exceptional customer service. They’ve treated me with the same respect as the customer next to me who was picking up his second set of Summilux cinema lenses, which is why I buy as much as possible from HRC, & often recommend them on this site.

I’ve had much less interaction with Duclos, but they also have a stellar reputation.

On another note: had a bit of difficulty swapping mounts on some of my Veydras, & ended up having HRC do it for me. Mine were from the very first production run, so perhaps it’s easier now, but if there’s a skilled Lens Tech around you might have them do the initial swap.

@Bern My bank says they’ll have have to cancel my card once they issue a refund. Then, they’d send a new card to my sister in the States, and she will then have to send the card to me in Vietnam. I still have to use my card to pay my tax preparer, and if I haven’t heard back from Veydra by then, I’ll be forced to ask for a refund. I’m pretty certain none of the dealers here in Asia carry the X-mounts. I can try Duclos if I don’t hear back from Veydra by next week. That’s probably more information than you wanted to know.

Ouch!

Don’t know how well it’s accepted in Vietnam, but I use AMEX for the vast majority of my purchases in large part because of the protections they provide. Even my PayPal purchases flow though AMEX.

Hot Rod Cameras is advertising on social media they’ve received a new shipment of Veydra 12mm lenses. Richard Avery has stated this is lens in least demand, likely I assume because it’s the only one that’s restricted to m43, & S16, so seems Veydra is still churning along.

Yes, but the 12mm is a wounderful lens, as wide angle lenses go. With the addition of the new GH5S, demand for the 12mm should go up, as this is an excellent hand held lens for the GH5S, as Cine lenses go. The other option is the native auto 12mm Panny Leica lens in this focal length, another excellent option, which probably cut into Ryan’s sales for the Veydra 12mm.
Cheers
