Very upset about DVX fault/error

I'm not having a particulary great time in my life at the moment, still looking for work etc, and jsut a moment ago I got my DVX out and plugged it into my tv to try out some scene settings etc, and when I put it on camera mode with a tape in it it suddnely starts changing between PAUSE and REC over and over and theres nothing I can do about it.

I ran a cleaning tape through it, turned it on and off several times, still the same thing.

I have HARDLY used the bloody thing, and bought it second hand with 250 hours.

I am fuming and really really down after this. I can not afford to get it fixed by some overcharging company at this time.

Is there anything I can do myself?

Could be some dirt behind or around either one of the red record buttons. First inspect them. Remove anything obvious. Then try using an air blower. Just an idea.

I tried that then got 'AUTO OFF S REEL LOCK' in red on the screen then the camera turns off each time.

So I looked up some threads here about it and tried resetting it and turning OIS off, then when I opened the tape deck the tape was all out.

Have tried numerous other tapes but I'm still getting the same PAUSE/REC\PAUSE/REC over and over with the tape motor making a the same constant EEEH UUURRR noise over and over.

Havnt seen the Auto off s Reel lock message again tho.

Where should I go from here?

Have you tried a NEW tape?

If a new tape and head cleaner don't work, I'm afraid servicing it is your only option.
