They have also cheaper version without QR and macro rails (they are good for balance).

Personal preference:
If something doesn't look amazing, I prefer it to be black or dark muted colors. Nothing worse than having a loud color that brings attention to the cheesy design.

If it were priced at $125, I could live with the red punky-bruester foam rolls.... maybe.

This could be better and cheaper... and it is priced at $129:

I do not agree about Indie option here.
Provided cage is much better.
Better build quality, better construction and better mounting options.
Plus you can assembly and disassembly one very fast using your hands and pack it in very portable format.

As for bright red - contact seller. I am sure they can arrange black ones.
And red is much better for sales.

Hey, the red looks really cool for all 5 people who have a red GH1.

Do they have a fully decked out version with matte box and everything?

I just want to buy a cheap fully decked out version for my b or C camera.... I don't want to have to go buying this piece that piece ect... I am fine with the ugly punky brewster cool aide man red.

Looks like we replied the same thing at the same time. Although, there is not much to disagree about because they are in different price brackets. Better is relative to the consumers price target.

The indie option would do, but by the time someone added all the extras, it would come close to the ebay price.

Red is much better for sales? Ok. Not my preference, but ok.

I have this and it's just as cheap and much better than the funky looking red thing in original post

If you want to get a cage for any camera I do recommend having rods and 90 degree angle blocks to built it your self. It's cheaper, better and it suits every camera if you make it adjustable.

I have a cage that works great and it's not to expensive. Parts from berkeysystem.com and handles from ebay. You can have bottom rods, top rods and side rods and configure it in any way you want.

C'mon guys really I still don't see the point on buying an HDSLR and complicate it with lots of little moving parts and accessories, after a while you'll reach the same cost of a pro level video camera and the same size. Because of the D.O.F.? that's just a fashion these days, it has always existed and even on today movies you won't see such an abuse of shallow D.O.F.
My opinion? a nice camera, a nice set of lenses, a follow focus unit, and a good story, so go out, film something valuable and stop worrying about knobs, cages and pimping devices.

lsocorro a lot of us use cages/rails for the ability to add a mattebox which is not just a throw away 'extra', it's a vital additional to any camera including DSLR for the simple fact of stacking filters which in many situations (outdoors) ALL pros use (polarizers, ND's, grad ND, at the very minimum)

There are many rigs that do become complicated but I believe a simple cage solve many problems when you want to hook up more things than just the camera.

I also prefer to shoot with a plain camera on sticks or handheld but often it's more practical to have a cage with rods.

Now Black Handles are also available, I am really thankful of your reviews and comments about this product, your views and suggestion really helps me to improve overall design & functionality with a lowest possible price tag.
