Vertical Lines on Red edges - Help

I have a few shots of red cars and buildings where the edges, especially diagonal lines, get vertical pixelation. It basically ruins my shots. Is there any way to fix this problem in Final Cut Pro? I read that a "Chroma Blur" in AE can fix it, but the only software I have is FCP.

Can anyone help me with this?

I ran into the same problem (it has to do with the DV codec and its colour compression by the way, avoid brilliant reds next time). I masked the red part in ppro (fortunately the camera did not move in the shot, made it easier). By the way, you won't be aböle to see the artifacts on a normal TV screen.

There is also a quirky thing that happens when you leave the OSD on and mount your camera on a tripod. When you pan left or right the vertical aberrations appear. Because Red is one of the most difficult colors to reproduce, it appears that its in the reds.

FCP--

EFFECTS> VIDEO FILTERS> KEY> COLOR SMOOTHING 4:1:1 (OR 4:2:2)

Try either, it helps with the red channel

4:1:1 seemed to help a little. I also brought down the saturation to make the clip B&W, and that seemed to pretty much get rid of the problem. 4:2:2 didn't seem to do anything.
