Vertical lines in raw footage

Noticed that footage from my 150 displays some vertical lines, almost like a subtle vertical grid underneath the footage ?

I see this from mts files played back from windows media player but also when editing in vegas and rendering to mt2s.

I have not yet had an oppertunity to hook the camera directly to a monitor, thus bypassing any compressing.

Any idea what this is - no difference betweeb 1080/720 interlaced/progressive ?

Vertical lines? All I can think of is the aliasing that occurs around diagonals ("stair stepping"). Can you post a screen grab?

Below screen shot shows a little bit of the lines - nothing like the actual footage playing on my 28 inch monitor.

Well at least its not the cam - saw it in all its glory on a 67 inch 1080 hd screen - the lines that are far more noticeable than my compressed samples above shows - must have something to do with the way my screen handles avchd is projected on my screen whether it be from windows media player direct or through vegas - its all the same.

Sorry for jamming up your eyes jambredz :-)

I see what you're talking about and I have the same problem with my Canon 7D. I think it's compression or noise in the blacks when things are underexposed or something.
