vertical lines in 24pa footage in final cut....

Well I have imported footage from my dvx (shot at 24pa) and have all the settings right. I use the advanced pulldown to capture and have timeline all set good but when I finish capture there seems to be prominent vertical lines in red, and orangy colors. I watch the minivd tape to see if its my camera and it looks perfect. It's only after capture. So I ruled out that it's interlacing because the motion is not blurred in any way just colors. Any help please! Thanks.

you're not using final cut express?
also which timeline are you editing it on?

capture setting seems to be fine so it must be one of these problems...

I'm using Final Cut Pro and editing the footage in a easy setup 23.98 NTSC timeline with advance pulldown. Like I said, everything seems to be set correctly and when I watch the raw minidv tape it looks perfect. Just after import while working in final cut pro I notice this happens. Also, when I export the footage it looks okay. I'm stumped as to why in final cut pro it looks like this. I mean its filmed progressive so interlacing is not a factor....Anyways, thanks for any further help.

if your footage looks fine after exporting you should be fine. it's probably the type of monitor you're using.
24p will still be interlaced so you will see interlanced footage no matter what...

24PA is not interlaced once imported into FCP with advanced pulldown removal. You can go through it frame by frame and there will not be any interlacing nor any repeated frames.

A friend of mine is having a similar problem: vertical lines in FCP after import (not visible on camera or monitor before import), no lines after export. I was searching this thread to see if anyone knows how/why this is happening...

Just to be clear . . .

Interlace artifacting will appear to be horizontal, not vertical, lines. This sounds like something completely unrelated.

now shows up after export as well:( Loooks fine on raw tape though
