Personally I am very happy about the interval recording, just like I had on the F3 and it was a treat to have!

3D Luts in-camera are INSANE!!! No more 1D limited LUTs which at best can shift tones around for independent channels but do nothing for hue, saturation, etc.. I'm real excited about this.

4k HDMI? wow... again pretty damn cool (I wish they would fix the 23.98/24p mode over HDMI however.. still bummed about that for over a year)

Yes. 3D LUTs in camera is going to be a big deal. If they can eventually turn that into layering ASC CDLs on top of that remotely, they will be winning.

I'm doing a doc starting Apr 6th that has been predetermined to go "grainy contrasty black and white" in post. Having that B&W look in camera while shooting S-Log3 is going to be nice.

Nate, considering we took a gamble on the F55 just a little over a year ago... it sure turned out to be one damn hell of a camera!

It is still uncertain when the hardware update (card) will be released for the compressed DnX and Pro Res options. A Sony dealer told me today, he would guess it will be either during or right after NAB. Fingers crossed.

That's a relief.

Except that given the current speeds of the SXS pro + cards we should not expect very high quality prores, and if they do give it the card run times will be under 20 minutes from my calculations,

Maybe when the hardware upgrade is installed in the camera body, there will be an option for a higher quality ProRes file to be sent to the R5 at a higher data rate. Hopefully these facts will surface over this month from Sony as the release date gets closer. Time will tell.

.. yes that's why I suspect the new AXSM-slim cards were announced, but Sony quickly deleted that thread on the forums where I illustrated my calculations and hypothesis.

:)

Yea, I bought 2 of the A-Series cards thinking I could use my Sonnet Thunderbolt SxS reader to speed up the transfer speed bottleneck the AXSM card reader has now limited to USB 2.0 & 3.0 and later found out they were about 3mm thicker than the standard SxS cards. I was told by a Sony tech, they run cooler while recording. At least the price is about the same.
