The debut of our short film web series 'Vengeance Rides a Train' shot with 50mm 1.4, 1.8, 18-105mm, and Lensbaby. Eagerly anticipating the Panny GH1 as that will make achieving all our desired effects much simpler than using the D90 (which is like the camcorder equivalent of a savant, Mozart trapped in Hellen Keller's body).

"Mozart trapped in Helen Kellers body" LOMFAO!

What was your workflow, if you dont mind me asking?

really great! Good music and audio.

I really Like the shots where you have used stills and morphed together with twixtor.

Thanks guys, I am making a few minor changes still and will need to re-encode it to make the file size smaller for Vimeo. I'll post an update once it's up.

Wow, VERY nice. A little shaky for my taste but really nice looking. The story didn't make much sense to me at the moment but I am tired so I may have to watch it again. The slow motion between 5:40-5:54 looks really good for being pulled out of 24p. I assume that's twixtor doing the job?

EDIT: I don't think a hat ever looked so cool.

Nothing super special; shoot, assemble in Vegas, render slow motion and effects shots in after effects with twixtor as uncompressed avi, go back and replace effects shots in vegas, score in cakewalk, tighten edits, apply Magic Bullet Looks in vegas to nail the color down, displacement map to remove jaggies, render

Did you use any custom curves? What was your sharpness setting? If you didn't use custom curves did you adjust the d90 contrast setting to give a flatter image to tweak in post?

These are the settings we've been using in camera:

picture control, select vividset sharpening to A
set saturation to 2 blocks minus

We think it helps cut the red push the camera seems to do automatically.

Other than that some of the manipulation was through curves in Magic Bullet Looks among other MB filters.

wow, very impressive, especially w/ the sound. how did you compose the sound track?

I compose in Sonar utilizing traditional multi-track recording and sound design elements created from custom recordings, also patching a wide range of Virtual Instrument Orchestra samplers from Gigastudio to Kontakt and EW sound libraries and orchestrating them through traditional score notation-midi sequencing. (I.E. this is where my classical music theory education paid off)

Looks pretty good. What did you use for audio?

Some of the sound design elements and dialogue came from recordings with a Sennheiser ME66 shotgun mic and Wireless Lav systems, but most were added in post from various sfx libraries I've accumulated over the years.
