Vegas won't "Print to tape" a progressive project...

I have found the cause, but not a solution. The "bubbles" (wish I could find a more technical term!) seem to be attached in some way to the text. Move the text and the bubble artifacts move with it. I wondered if it was just the legacy text that was causing it, so I replicated the text using the new Sony text titler, and then again with Pro-Titler. (Actually it wasn't possible to replicate exactly, as the font size is not consistent, but I got as close as possible). In both cases the problem remained. It is the weirdest thing as it only happens when rendering as an AVI or printing to tape (which is essentially the same thing anyway). So, text and rendered AVIs don't work together.

I must say it's not really good enough to spend 18 months on a project and not be able to render it out in the exact same format as I loaded it in. No reply from Sony. Vegas is a great piece of software in my opinion, but my loyalty is being somewhat tested right now.

In the end I screened the film from a DVD. Given that, it looked pretty good!

Which text grouping did you choose from? ProType? Tiles & Text? Legacy Text?

If you chose it from one of the first two, trying doing it again from the Legacy Text.

Well, Christmas and New Year got in the way but I finally got around to trying your suggestions. No luck I'm afraid to say. I replicated the offending section using all of the three different text generators but got the same problem. "Reduce interlace flicker" was already on. (Out of desperation I switched it off, but no difference).

If anyone fancies trying to replicate the problem for themselves, here https://download.yousendit.com/M3BtNWNnaFI3bUJqQTlVag is a folder containing all the files you need. It's about 72Mb. You need to render the section as an AVI file using the PAL DV Widescreen template, but change the field order to "None (Progressive Scan)". To remind you what to look out for, there is a kind of bubbling artifact in the top right window of the house that appears when the second line of text fades in. (Actually the artifact occurs in several other places in the image, but it's at its most obvious there). I'm using Vegas Pro 11. It's a big ask to expect anyone to do this I know, but it would be interesting to see if the problem is universal, or limited to my system for some reason. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a go.
