Vegas-like Website builder?

Hey All,

I've tried Frontpage and Dreamweaver, but -- to quote Bono -- still haven't found what I'm looking for.

Was wondering if anyone has found a website design program that has the same power, yet ease of use/learning curve as Sony Vegas on the editing side.

Well all web site builders are going to have a learning curve that you will have to adjust to.

I don't know if this helps you, but I learned alot about website authoring from http://www.lynda.com

Its not free, but the video tutorials are great and its worth the 30 bucks

Have you tried Adobe GoLive?

I used to use Adobe Live Motion until they discontinued it (it doesn't even work with XP). It was great. It had an interface that was identical to After Effects.

Have you tried text edit or notepad?

It doesn't get much easier/better than learning the basics and doing it by hand, IMO.

I use a program called Notepad2 on PC, and either Kate or Gedit on Linux. And you can't possibly design websites without Photoshop (or equivilent)

Go to w3schools and lern yourself some CSS and XHTML.

The Tivity for web stuff has a nice interface. I'm going to try that for the clothing website.

It is not the best, but you might want to look at Namo web editor. Pretty easy to work with. One editor I used a long time ago was NetObjects. It has been a number of years since I used it so I don't know what the latest version is like. When I used it, the interface was like a desktop publishing program.

Oh, and for flash authoring, SwishMax is a cheap/easy alternative.

Good Luck!

Having just created my first, rather basic website, I can say that Dreamweaver is more frustrating than useful. I ended up ditching the whole design view and just working in the code, which I knew enough HTML to do (and could figure out the rest from context).

So, if you're a beginner, you may find it to be the same.
