I was wondering if anyone has used dvda 2.0 yet. I have been using encore and am switching to vegas.(just ordered 5.0+dvd today and should be here thurs. ;D )
Encore has good end action and text as buttons settings like customizable button routing options. Does dvd 2.0 do this. I have been thinking about downloading the trial but I will have mine soon. How is the mpeg 2 compressor. The sony site forum people are using nero burn and I wonder why?
Jarred, Have you used 5.0 yet? how do you like it you lucky bugger.

DVDA2 has End Actions and you can make text buttons, but I'm not sure about button routing. I'm pretty sure the MPEG-2 encoder is the same as in Vegas 4 (Mainconcept encoder), and it's recognized as one of the best.

Also, I'm curious, what exactly are they using Nero for?

It seems they are using nero to burn dvd's. They set everything up in vegas/dvd and burn with nero. Why? I don't know. Check out the sony dvd a 2.0 forum

Re: vegas dvd a2.

I've heard of people using Nero after DVD-A1 creates the files. They seem to think that it's more reliable over multiple burns. Some even say DVD-A has problems on the second copy.

I don't have that problem, though. I just burned 17 copies of a disc, right in a row, over the weekend with DVD-A1, and the last was every bit the same as the first.

I just installed DVD-A2 Sunday evening, so I haven't tried anything with it yet.

Re: vegas dvd a2.

Perhaps it's just a personal preference, but regardless of what DVD-Authoring app I author the DVDs in, I always export a DVD-image file and burn it in a program such as Nero.  I've never really even considered using the authoring app to do this as most programs just toss this in as an afterthought to satisfy the user who wants this sort of "all in one" type of program.  I'd rather use each program for what it does best, and DVDA is great at DVD authoring, while Nero is a tried and true burning program.

I've seen people having issues with burner incompatibility, etc. on every forum for a DVD authoring app I've ever been on. The fact that an authoring app could have issues with burning the DVD is a non-issue for me because I would never use it for that. But that's just the way I work :)
