Vegas 8: What is the highest quality HD option for rendering?

Hello,

I recently switched over to Vegas Pro 9, but kept Vegas Pro 8 because some older project files only play correctly in that and not in 9. For those segments, I'm looking to render them out of Vegas 8 in the most loseless quality possible, then import those video clips into Vegas 9 for rendering a final file with other Vegas 9 clips.

So what would you suggest to render HDV out of Vegas 8 in the best possible quality? Is there an option to render back to m2t? As that is the original file type.

Some scenes were edited and saved in Vegas Pro 8, newer scenes edited in Vegas Pro 9. Instead of reworking everything to look correctly in 9 when it is already assembled and ready in 8, I think this would be the best option to put some of it together in clip form and render all together in 9.

Thanks for your suggestions!

If you have it installed, use HuffYUV (or Lagarith) codec under the .AVI file container. If you don't have either of those, then use Uncompressed. This will make lossless (LARGE) files. Rendering to M2T is quite lossy.

i just rendered a 1min test vid per your suggestion (HuffYUV)...i chose "use project settings". i use a Canon XH-a1, capture HDV 1440x1080 24F (p) 1.33 PAR m2t file within Vegas' capture tool. rendered video ended up being stretched vertically. i thought i was matching the settings. should i render at a different PAR, or go with the HDV 1080 (1440x1080) preset? sorry if my questions are choppy.

Thanks for the advice. I don't have HuffYUV, but when I go to render and choose "Video for Windows (avi)" and select "HD-1080-24p YUV", I get what looks to be good results.

You think I'll be in good shape outputting this type of file from Vegas 8 to re-render yet again at 24p in Vegas 9?
