VDSLR vs HDSLR vs whatever

So I was thinking about what to call these new cameras. And it occurred to me that there's nothing in the current name (Digital Single Lens Reflex) that prohibits it applying to video as well. A single lens reflex is just a shutter mechanism, and has nothing to do with stills vs. moving images.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean that it's not necessary to say VDSLR or HDSLR or whatever? I mean, once all DSLR's have a movie ability, we aren't going to call all of them VDSLR's.

why not just slr? if somebody wants to believe there's a strip of film in my d90 that's their problem. people rarely know what digital is anyway. i recently heard from a famous film producer, you've probably seen a few of his films, that film is a series of images, 24 times per seconds, while digital is just "waves". that's why it looks different. :-)

i'm "immune to your consultations" btw.

maybe I'm showing my age but I just call it a camera. Anything with "video" in the name makes me cringe but what's in a name anyway.
