varizoom products?

hi, anyone have any experience, good or bad, with varizoom's products? i'm looking to get a follow focus system, stablization, maybe a remote head. i'm used to renting high end products but wandering if this is a viable option for me. also, are the wired follow focus systems as good as the geared ones? are there any wireless options for FF? what would be the best stablization for an HVX? is there a model (doubt it) that will also hold my aaton super16 camera? it looks like the remote head doesn't have wheels but a rocker or something. anyone have experience? does it give you the same style contol as wheels? thanks...

Bebob products are apparently better than varizoom, and quite a bit more expensive. I think the wired folow focus are electronic, and are made to work with the stock lens on the hvx. The geared ones are made for 35 mm lens that you attach to the hvx with and adapter, but there may be exceptions to this.

If you are used to high end, the Varizoom stabilizers will come up very short.

Check out the brand new Steadicam rigs for your HVX. The Pilot will do great with the HVX, as will the larger Flyer, which may cary your 16mm camera too.

Their LANC products were pretty solid. They come up real short on the Panny end. Their Stealth Line is horrible. Too small to be precise. Never understood why they changed the form factor. I loved my Pro-L controller on my XL-1. Bebob is great with Panny. I really liked Varizoom a few years back. They need a major overhaul on all their products, as well as their image. Same thing with Lacie.

HeathFranklin,

This is Tom from VariZoom. We are proud of our entire product line from controls to stabilizers/ We just had another record year and have thousands of repeat customers. We have had great success with our panasonic controls we can sell them at a low cost because we sell so many. Buy anything direct before months end and you can still get 5% off with our NAB discount.

You have 30 days to use it all you want and return it if your not happy. I think you will keep it but if not I'll pay all the shipping too.

Thanks to all that stopped by the VariZoom booth at NAB it was another great show.

Best regards,

Tom

hi tom,

is your 8" SWIT monitor camera mountable (on an HVX) or only the smaller ones? are either capable of monitor critical focus, i do a lot of camera moves that need to be precise focus and want a monitor that can mount and will show focus to the focus puller. thanks. heath
