Varizoom MonoPod ?

I have used the glidecam 2000 and I was never really able to get it to sit right with my GL2. After looking at the monopod, I think it would be easy to setup and get steady cam shots. I know that it takes awhile to get good with any steady cam system but I just wanted to know what everyone thought about this unit. Good? Bad? anything will help. Thanks for your time.

Re: Varizoom MonoPod ?

Dude, the Varizoom monopod sucks. You see with a Bogen/Manfrotto monopod, you can loosen the clamp and let the legs slide out quickly (I don't know how to describe that better). However, with the Varizoom, you have to take the time to pull the legs out to extend them. It seems minor, but the time spent doing that adds up.

Re: Varizoom MonoPod ?

I have the flowpod and it isnt just a monopod. As just a monopod, go for the lighter manfrotto but as a stabilizer then i can say that it is well built and does the job . . . . practice . . . lots, and on location shoots you want the time/space to get your balancing right. It takes some time to balance and just touch the lcd and your off centre again. There has been talk about quick release addons to speed up set up . . . look up the threads in hardware for in depth info on other brands ;)
