Varicam Super 35 - my first 4K AVC-Ultra 4:4:4 short test

Filippo,

Where did you map highlight detail on this? Is it possible to recover the highlight detail in the snow?
I've done some preliminary shooting with the camera but only under low key lighting. I'd really like to get a sense of its highlight latitude since you really took it in that direction.

Thanks,

How did you edit the 444 footage? I'm using a Varicam this weekend, but the Panasonic rep in LA told me that no AVC-Intra444 is not yet supported by any NLE, and there's no way to convert the footage to ProRes. He recommended we just use AVC-Intra422 instead.

You can use DaVinci Resolve with the Varicam 444 footage and, if you want, you can easily convert it to Pro Res 4444.

The DR of this camera is superb.
I need to try more but, recover the highlight detail in the snow is not so difficult.
Overexpose by 1 stop the V-Log, I think it's a good choice.
