Varicam LT Proxy Attach Error in Adobe

My apologies if this topic has already been covered, however a quick forum search yielded me no results. I am curious if anyone has found a solution / workaround for attaching the in camera proxies to the .mxf native footage in Adobe. It is a wonderful feature being able to record proxies simultaneously in camera, but rather pointless if I can't link them in Premiere. Evidently, this error is caused because the .mxf files record 4 tracks of audio (even if you shut off channels 1 and 2) and the proxies only record 2. Because of this Premiere refuses to link them. Any solutions? I am going to try to contact Adobe today as well.

Just to update everyone, I heard back from Adobe and there is currently no support for this. They made it seem like it is not planned to change anytime soon as well, and suggested I create a "Wishform ticket". Maybe if enough of us create these tickets we can get some support for our in camera proxies.

So when you say Adobe, which product are you speaking about specifically? Also, does anyone have a quick guide to how to replace the proxy files in Resolve with .MXF files? I have done it a few times, but it is always hit or miss. If there is nothing on the web, I will figure it out again and create a tutorial.

Cheers

To be fair, I don't think I would want Premiere to actually have the ability to attach proxy files that don't have the same audio channel configuration, etc. When considering how that has the potential to screw up a lot of people's projects (that they may not recognize until exporting) vs. the small investment in time to have Media Encoder transcode and attach it's own generated proxy files, I'd prefer the latter.

I think the in-camera proxies are meant to hand off to the client, etc. straight away after the shoot. It doesn't take much time for Permiere/AME to render proxies on ingest, especially if you don't lard up the settings with LUTs, TC overlays, etc...

OMG, I can't believe I just defended Adobe's logic.

Please try this:

Tip is to uncheck “File Extension” in order to link MOV to MXF file.

1. File> Link Media, then “link media” window is opened.

2. uncheck “File Extension” in bottom area of “link media” window, then press “Locate”

3. Select one of the hi-res MXF clip, then press “OK”

Again, contact me directly for additional info.
