Anyone using a variable ND filter with af100 & EOS lenses? I really want to uses my tokina 11-16 and canonL 24-70 f2.8, but the red rock just seems bulky (and more batteries & cables). The Kipon is not an option, and Birger is..?

I've read that staying out of the max. and min. of the singh ray, offers pretty good exposure control with little color chromatic problems. I'm just wondering if there's a large enough range in the var ND to cover the exposure range within AF100's ND wheel?

I would also like to know if focus is still there at higer mm. Some year ago there was a problem as you added mm on your zoom. At 80mm on 5D (would be arround 42-ish mm on AF100 to get same angle of view) it was clearly out of focus. It only worked on wide shots. There was a new model out as far as I know and I have heard both good and bad about it.

The best available variable ND is the Heliopan. No sharpness loss, no color shift issues, no artifacts, hard stops for both edges of the ND range, great quality.
It is "only" 6 stops, though.
