Variable color temp?

Maybe this was covered but I couldn't find it. In Barry's book, he says if you hit the AWB button you can cycle through to Var white and dial any color temp through the function button. I just cant get it to appear. Any ideas?

Thanks

You need to make sure the function button is not assigned to another function before that works.

To me this is one of the greatest features of the AF100. On a recent shoot with mixed Florescent / Tungsten lighting, I dialed in 3600K for a perfect match. I don't believe there is any way you could white balance your way to that look and temperature.

You get to it via the White Balance 3-way switch (PRST-A-B); once in PRST, you then use the AWB button to select VAR, then use the FUNCTION control to go up or down in temp. Works like a charm.

Agreed. This feature is great. Certainly it's not the first cam to have it, but it's very well implemented. I too was doing some shoots today under mixed lighting and couldn't get a satisfying reading off a white card, but dialed in something that looked right using the variable temp. Worked great.

Can you please tell me how to un-assign the function button? I can just choose from INH, FOCUS IRIS, Y GET and the combos.
Can't get Barry's book here in Norway yet. :(

Just hold the function knob in for a couple of seconds. It pushes in like a button, so push it in and hold it for a couple of seconds until it clears the cursor off your screen and the "AREA" word goes off the display.
