Vari ND dirty inside - how to clean?

I've just wrapped a corporate in Dubai and flying out to Qatar to do an event tomorrow. I got some water inside of my Vari ND I'm shooting with and while the water has evaporated it left some nasty stains :( Any tips or ideas on how to open up the Vari ND to clean the inside and have it back to working order tomorrow? It's a Starblitz Vari ND btw. Any help is much appreciated!

On regular filters, the glass in usually held in place by a two-piece holder: the main part has both the male and female threads of the filter, the glass sits there, then a second, smaller, metal part screws on the front side and holds the glass in place
You can unscrew that part using two tiny holes you'll find in that piece (so, looking at the front of the filter, two small holes in the metal part just by the glass). Very important: use the right tool. I'm guessing you don't have the specialty one, so, pick something that's long enough and stiff enough and sharp enough (I use a dot punch), and be careful how you use it: when it slips (and it will slip) you want it to go against the thread, not against the glass. You have to hold the filter firmly, and for me the best position is vertically, with the dot punch pointing upwards and to the left.

I'm guessing the variND will be the same, just more cumbersome to hold firmly in place.
