vari frame rates problem

I shot vari frame rate of 48p on 24p mode. But it doesn't not seem like it does anything once I play it. I might be doing something wrong. Please tell me what exactly involves with doing undercranking and overcranking. It is not working for me.

does it have to be 24pn. I can't do it on 24p?

Not true. You can do VFR in the 720pN or 720P modes.

To use it, you:

1) Set up Recording Setup to 720, 24P or 24pN.

2) In your scene file, set to 48 FRAME.

In 24pN mode, the camera will do everything for you; it'll be on the P2 card as 23.976 and everything will move at half-speed.

In 24P mode, you'll have to remove the extra frames from the 60p stream in your software. This may be what you're up against.

I am talking about if he wants to have it be recorded to P2 at half speed as you said. I figured that was his desire based on the fact he was expecting to see it be in slow mo when viewing it back.

If you use FCP you can download this plugin. It's a frame rate converter and will allow you to convert your already shot footage to the slow mo effect you want

This is pretty handy if you don't know what you want to have in slow mo prior to shooting, but if you do know what you want in slow mo, shoot in native mode and save on copious amounts of space.

Not sure if you use FCP, but I do hence the link for the plug in. I am sure they have similar plugins for other NLE though.
