GH2 Varavon loupe ex gh2 or uni for shooter?

I'm considering getting a loupe for a hand held shooter setup, possibly paired with an edilkrone pocket rig and am on the fence between the flip out loupe or the uni/solo loupe. has anyone tried a shooter setup with the flip out loupe? Is there alot of pressure being put on screen/brackets? Just doesn't seem that ergonomic. also does anyone know teh difference between the solo and uni model?

I have the flip out and love it. The bracket takes all the pressure so no pressure is put on the screen. the bracket doesn't seem to be under that much pressure just supports the weight of the loupe.

I thought about the uni one but hated the thought of losing the advantages of the articulating screen and I am so glad I didn't get the solo now. It would have made the loupe unusuable on my rail rig.
 
I have the flip out Loupe as well, used on a simple Cavision shoulder mount and I'm very satisfied. The build quality is sturdy and like the quote above, the bracket supports all the weight so the LCD is safe. My only issue so far is the thin foam that is glued to the back side of the loupe (to compress against the LCD and block any light leaking in) has already been torn and is falling off. Other than that, it's a pretty solid piece of kit.
 
thanks guys, agreed that the flipout version is great on rails and tripod. also good to know that its fine in a shoulder rig setup. anyone use the flip open on something like the zacuto target shooter? This is the kind of run&gun setup that I am going for. hows the ergonomics? for some reason to me the uni loupe seem more suited but without really trying them both out its hard to say.

unless you have an offset adapter or put it in the centre of your chest wouldn't the uni one force you to tilt your head to the right? I cam from shooting on more traditional video cameras so the flip out loop just feel natural to me. When I do handheld I usually have the flip out slightly tilted up so I can cradle the camera with my hands at chest level rather than have to hold the camera out at eye level which is much harder on the arms. Everyones bodies and habits are different to each their own I guess.
 
ergonomics, bigger/extra point of contact. I am hoping it will help reduce shake when i use my primes on live events. I actually get fatigued squinting up into the EVF on long shoots/events. I had a play once with mr blooms zacuto loupe + target shooter at a workshop and it amazed me as to how comfortable it was. I am hoping this will prove the same =)
 
it is possible with the pocket rig to tilt the shoulder arm to the right, putting the camera in your face. See the picture of me with the rig up on the review thread.

Did you get the flip out loupe? I have to decide between the flip out and the uni too right now. I want a loupe for more stability in a run&gun situation. So I'm gonna press this thing to my eye pretty strong sometimes. Do you think the flip out version is solid enough for not breaking the lcd? :)
Otherwise I would get the uni version. Thanks for your help!
 
Is there an option to buy the Varavon Loupe that fits with the screen folded in and then also buy a seperate bracket so it would fit for flip out lcd? Like in these two pictures:

by the way the loupe uni does not fit my gh2 properly at the camera mount. It needs to be modified. I havent had time to modify it yet. In that pic the loupe ex has a better fit

I prefer the Uni for run and gun, for me it's more ergonomic but as i said it doesnt fit the gh2's mounting base flush. the loupe protrudes at the bottom and there is not enough length in the loupe bracket to mount it flush to the base.
 
I have the flip out version and agree it's rock solid. I've filmed up to 4 hours continuos with it, I find it ideal for getting focus spot on with my manual lenses.

I've used it handheld and on a rig. It's surprisingly easy to hold steady handheld as it makes the camera in effect wider.
