VAF-D800 Optical Anti-Aliasing Filter from Mosaic Engineering now available

It should be better now. Similar to the 7D version which allows you to use wide angle lenses at full open apertures.

we'll see... The 7D is a crop-camera, with at different resolution and line-skipping implementation, so the filters would have to be quite different. I don't think we should take anything for granted, this way or the other. I'm quite certain I'm getting one, but I want to know a bit more before I pull out my creditcard.

That's true about the crop sensor. I would also wait a little bit if I was also in your place. Mosaic always let Glen Pryzyborski test run their new products and I'm waiting for him to post tests. However, I have noticed he uses canon and I am not certain if he has access to a D800.

I'm regularly checking his posts to see if he has done so.

Mine's coming in two days :-) Typical fedex-scenario, though, as it was one day delayed, and I have a shoot tomorrow :-/ Oh well, I'll report back once I have taken it for a spin.

Been waiting for the same before ordering one which I have just done also!

I must say the problems I have experienced to date with aliasing have been so much less than I was expecting. Rightly or wrongly I have put this down the use of the flaat_10/11 profile and a Fader ND. This is all very new to me but the profile minimises the sharpness and the Fader ND just takes the edge off the image before it gets there! I understand that the Heliopan variable ND is supposed to be sharper. For that ND comparison see https://vimeo.com/32209825

Anyway the Mosaic is on its way and I shall order a Heliopan and see how we go!

Fedex is really screwing me on this... Should have my filter a week ago, but there is an inexplainable delay and I suspect they've managed to lose the parcel. Get back when/if I get it.

I'm waiting for someone to test this with the D800e. I'd like to know if the AA works with the D800e just as well as the D800, I'd love the D800e for stills.

I am going to do the whole nine yards. Got the Mosaic and just waiting for the Ninja2 to arrive to start and do a complete test.

Yeah im also curios about this one! Have a d800e and since i live in sweden the investment to get one will be rather large (with tax and custom for importing).
