About Montery footage (.MOV - 16MB version)

Between 00:00:21 and 00:00:24 there is some kind of spot on the low left side of the picture. It is very soft but you can see it moves along with the camera.

Also in 00:00:02 when you see a truck on the right side there is another "spot" on the left upper corner of the highway green sign.

Im wondering if this is a G35 issue or camera lens one

Can anybody report on this?

Thx.

Luis,

Good eye :) What you are seeing are shadows. The G35 has a protective glass filter between the lens mount and the GG. This keeps the GG clean of dust and dirt.

When I shot the Monterey footage the protective filter had some dust on it and it cast shadows onto the GG. As with any filter/lens/optical component, it's best to keep `em clean. Chalk this one up to operator error.

Not to continue to HiJack this thread, but...

Micro35 released this today: http://redrockmicro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=550 about "no light loss".

That is interesting news. But I would wait until it's totally comprehensive. If they are using a macro, they are more than likely losing light with the adapter.

Macro light loss formula:

Focal Length of lens
____________
Diameter of the lens
= light loss

If you are using say a 150mm (focal length) lens that is 70mm in diameter. The effective F-stop of that lens is 2.14. Even the fastest achromats are no faster than 1.4. You can get faster but it gets ugly really fast. You can't get around the properties of optics. Either way, I would wait to see when it is totally comprehensive before banking on the no light loss statement.

EDIT:

After reading the linked post again, it might be possible. If the DP took a meter reading through the adapter forgetting that he left his macro still attached to his camera (macro screws onto camera, then you push the adapter up to the macro), it seems more plausible. Macros lose light though.

Very very nice!!! I cant wait ultil get my own Guerrilla 35mm.
...Your GF should be very happy after this romantic video. hehehe =]
