Vacation footage shot on DVX W/ Guerilla35

I liked your footage alot alrosten. What we're your sharpness settings on your DVX?
Can you talk a little bit about the extreme contrast in your image? Usually these DOF adapters take away contrast. Alot of CC? Just curious.
Also, how much light was sacrificed with the G35? What lense(s) did you use?
I am leaning hard on getting the micro35 now, but the lack of any definitve sharpness on the focused subject scare me(especially if one we're to project, which would obliterate any sharpness at all). I due love the optic quality of the visuals however...only if it could be a little sharper on the DVX.

Jonathon, been following your work for sometime - you guys should check out some of the other demos he has on his website. I means it amazing. I will buy the Guerilla35 without a doubt now, i have been comparing the micro35 and g35 for about 2-3 months, and trust me guys, G35 is so much better. Yes there is the issue of the non-rotating gg but Jonathon says it's so tight nothing can enter it. But hey - how many people do you know who are going be shooting in the Sahara???

anyway, these images by far have impressed me, i swear even to a video geek like me, it looks like 35mm on a small screen, so impressed. Well done.

Imagine what i can do with an HVX200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Man, can someone please donate this unit and an awesome lens to the Pine Lake Films Poor Fund?

That looked really nice. Tastefully shot and edited.

Nice job.

SlimJim,

Yes the adapter does lower the contrast of the footage. This is actually a very welcome "feature" as it makes CCorrecting easier. The CC in the Monterey clip was just a Magic Bullet preset.

I used a nikon 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8. The 50mm is pretty soft wide open. I don't know about doing a filmout with the adapter. I mean, it's hard enough getting a good filmout with straight up DV footage. But it remains to be tested.

Just browsed www.guerilla35.com and what a crappy web site. Where's the information about the product and any updates?

So you’re saying that I shouldn’t a web designer? :cheesy: Yes, that site is a shell initially designed to get demos visible and to answer questions. There will be an entirely new site launched once we "release" the production units. For us, our options have been, work on making this product the best it can be, or spend time making a slick website to sell t-shirts with monkeys on them. The site has more than served its purpose. You can check out the FAQ or feel free to e-mail me at any time. Thanks!

Amazing. It really looked like a film.

elrosten, can you please tell us if you altered the DVX settings or not. You answered about the Nikon lens and the post work but not about the DVX itself.

Also something I missed. The product is not for sale yet but yet you're a customer, how come?

Of course not  It takes a LOT to offend me. I think the site sucks too :)

We have sold about 15 units to people with the understanding that they are "beta testing" them. The units aren't perfect, but optically they should be the same as the production units. Macgragor is another user that has been shooting with it for a while.

Amazeing. JHouser... your going to be a rich man very soon.

Chayse, that video is really great! What stock were you using on the film stuff? Looks like either ecktachrome or really well transfered Super8. Nice.
