Hello everybody,
We here in Hong Kong would like to share with you our short film based on the events of Edward Snowden's time here.
As most of you know, the NSA whistleblower leaked top-secret US & US mass surveillance data to the media.
While all this happened in our city, we decided to produce a short as the real story continued to develop.
We began shooting on June 20th and when we learned Snowden left HK for Moscow on 23rd, we ramped up our production and published it on the 25th.
This is because we wanted to make it just in time to fill in the void as many people here felt dismayed by his departure.
His time here between May 20th and June 23rd was of great media interest and speculation. Never before has HK seen such events occur.

We used a Canon 5D Mk II & III with Zeiss glass. Edelkrone & Zacuto rigs.
Practically no budget except for renting a room at The Mira hotel where Snowden stayed for most of his time.

Sweet! I love the subject matter. I would love to see a full version movie of Snowden's adventures.
Loved the credit intro! What software did you guys use to create the light/lines thing? (I'm not sure what you call it.) I would have liked to see the screen at the 1:58 mark but did you guys let the light overtake it on purpose to block out most of the conversation?

Yeah I lens-rocked that sequence for dramatic effect. Only a few key terms are properly visible which is something I wanted to get across
 
thanks! Yes the press coverage was great. We're now encouraging our Russian counterparts to pick up the mantle, and do their own indie/guerrilla film in Moscow

It's probably too late but if possible I'd consider ADR for all spoken parts.
