V detail freq. question!

Hi everyone. I just got my dvx and have been reading about the
v detail freq. From what i gather its best to shoot thin if you want to watch it on a projecter or progressive monitor and thick will reduce flickering on normal tv screens but lower the resolution.
If i were to shoot in thin for a transfer to film for example, but then wanted to disrubute copy's of the film on dvd, is there somthing that can be done in post to reduce the flicker for interlaced tv's.
Thanks for any help. :)

Re: V detail freq. question!

Yes this is a common question, and yes what you describe is what you want to do. You can simulate the "thick" filter by using the "reduce interlace flicker" option in many NLE programs or, barring that, just apply the tiniest gaussian blur you can, in the vertical direction only.
