To me it's logical to make a product that allow multiple threaded filters to be connected before the anamorphic adapter is connected, but I guess someone was quite drunk when they were designing it.[/quote]

well nobody can make one.. its physically imposible. The way the ana works is it distorts a 16x9 frame onto a 4x3 plane. If you change the distance from the lens to the ana adapter, the magnification changes and your image gets all screwed up.

The adapter just screws on like a screw on adapter, and the little screw locks it on.

Re: UV protective lens

agreed...its way more logical to let someone put a proffessional mattebox/filterholder in front of the lense..and not try to guess what the optics of a lense should be based on the distance that an unknown nuber of filters at unknown thickness from unknown manufactures should be.
look into the chrozseil 43-511 pk

Re: UV protective lens

here is an example of a mattebox working well infront of the ana adapter on our DVX:

Re: UV protective lens

I think it's suppose to be a joke. If you have money to buy a rig like that, you wouldn't be using DVX... That is unless you really want the DVX "look."

Re: UV protective lens

its no joke, its the rig we used on Art History, a short we did this Fall. We went balls out, our Director and DP wanted to take the DVX to a new level and that we did.  BTW, that grab of the DVX in that photo was taken with a DVX.. makes a good still cam :)

Anyways, the basic setup for that was everything Cinema.. A 6x6 Arri Mattebox with a 6 stage filter box on rods (about $6000 retail canadian) cinema follow focus ($3000), Panasonic ana adapter ($1200 CAD at that time), Tiffen 6x6 filters ( A chocolate, +3 and +1 yellow, a tobboaco, an ultracon and a promist.. (about $500 CAD each) We rented the Arri Wheels (the "tripod" head $dont ask) there in blue, but didnt use it once as it was so heavy and a pain in the ass. We used a sachtler cine head and used a device called an overkeeper in almost half the setups.. its basically a raised 4' dolly.

We also used 6" diopters for the ECU pick ups, and an angle prism, that I think we only used once.
