UV/Haze Filters?

Whats everyone's opinion on using a UV/Haze filter on there DVX200? I'm thinking about cutting the haze look in camera, Yes/No?

I have always used a UV filter on every camera I've owned. It does not effect the quality of the image and it protects the lens. A friend of mine learned the hard way shooting at a motocross event when a stone hit his lens. Put one on and never take it off is my suggestion.

+1 all of that, plus they do kinda clear up distant subjects in your image depending on a whole bunch of stuff. They're also cheaper, faster, easier to clean and maintain than the front lens element of the camcorder. The easiest way to clean your lens is to not get it dirty in the first place. Let whatever-it-is that wishes to destroy your DVX200 lens have to go through you, the hood and the filter first.

I ordered a UV filter when I ordered the camera. It was $18 from adorama and I purchased for the same reasons listed above. Definitely get one.

A UV filter is really not required as (if the Panasonic is like most cams) most sensors have a UV coating anyway. Adding another external UV filter can add minor color shift to the video. Plus a UV can cut light by (maybe an insignificant) 2%. Better to add a clear filter. Totally agree with the comments here ... do not get a cheap filter, I put this B+W 72mm on as soon as I got the camera:
B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating (007M) - $53 from Amazon.
I have a number of 77mm filters and tried to add one with a step up ring, but the hood would then not attach - so echo what is written above.
