UV filter

1. Should I buy high quality multicoated UV filter or 15$ filter is enough?
I want protect lens from dust and fingerprints. But there is question about reflections. I'm affraid that cheap filters could make more reflections from sources which are out of view angle (filter is more in front).
2. In some clips I saw soft (from sun it was strong) vertical line from point light sources. Can good UV filter with more antireflection layers eliminate this?

multicoated is a must. If you dont you will degrade your image. There have been some threads on this, do a little search and you can get a more indepth answer.

A high quality multicoated UV filter isn't that expensive. A Hoya HMC multicoated 72mm UV filter costs about $32 at B&H. It's essential to use a multicoated filter to cut down flare and ghosting when you're shooting into the light. Why try to save a few bucks on the filter that your $3000 camera will be filming *every* shot through?

Exactly. As Ken Freed said, "Never try to save money on anything that goes in front of your lens." Get the absolute best that you can.

There was a thread on the JVC HD forum, where guys had spent $3000 on this "high definition" camcorder, and wanted to know what $40 wide-angle adapter to use with it. Boggles the mind...

B+H filters are top notch as well as the Hoya... check them out, don't scrimp. You wouldn't put regular cheap unleaded in your Ferrari would you?

Tiffen's UV from what I understand... aren't multicoated. You need multicoated.
