is it alright to leave the filter on while it is in the case (a pelican 1510) or should i remove it everytime and use the lens cover? Will the UV filter get stuck after a long time that it is on the camera?

Leave the filter on all the time.

You should be able to get your lens cap on over the UV filter. As pookie said, leave that UV filter on. Think of it as extra protection for your expensive lens.
