Using Vimeo for your final video

I had a couple of questions about Vimeo.

The free version of Vimeo accepts HD videos, but because it doesn't 'embed' them as HD (unlike Plus version), it plays them interlaced is that right?

Secondly, does anyone know how to link youtube videos on Vimeo (without having to upload them all again to Vimeo)?

Thirdly, what is the best codec to use for Vimeo; Vimeo states in its FAQ that it doesn't work well with ProRes

Thanks

You're confusing SD vs. HD with interlaced vs. progressive. These are two completely unrelated aspects. Internet video is progressive, whether or not it's HD.

You'll have to re-upload. Even if you could do that, Vimeo would be re-compressing something already chewed up by YouTube's compression, so I can't see how the end result would be anything good.

Vimeo's Compression Guidelines have all the specs you need.
