Using transitions on still image with altered motion - image bounce?

So I'm trying to apply a simple "Star" transition to two still images. Each one has its motion edited so that they zoom in. Yet when I apply the transition, for the duration of the transition itself, the zoom is not in real time, and "catches up" at the end of the transition, creating a terrible looking bouncing sudden frame. Anyone know how I can remedy this? Project is due tonight and I didn't foresee having an issue with such a rudimentary thing. Thanks much in advance for anyone who can hastily reply!

Is it an issue with RT? If you haven't rendered the transition, do that and see what happens.

Haha, oh my, being up all night has its travails. That was it, I was just spamming command R thinking all rendering was done, yet it had a green bar all the time. Thanks a lot! Problem solved!

Oh damn. On second viewing, it seems that the transition only work smoothly for certain clips, yet all have the same identical motion zoom... for others it still does the jerkiness.

Check the bar colors above each, and double-check which colors are assigned to the render command.

If that doesn't help, you might try using the Media Manager to dump all your render files and then do a single "render all".

The ones which jerk have the light blue bar over them. Should I try anything w/ the render manager even if they're light blue?

Ok just went into RM and flushed the render files for the timeline. Then re-rendered 4 stills w/ the star transition as a test sample, and the same ones still jerk.

The jerkiness works like this: I'm editing in 30 frames and the transition is 1:00. The transition begins and the "zoom" that is in place does not show up until exactly 14 frames in, at which point it begins working and the transition finishes.

I always render out everything before my final export.

If rendering from scratch doesn't work, you might want to export your animated stills as new video files, import those, and place them in the timeline instead. That makes the transitions you add the only things that FCP is having to think about.

Also, just out of curiosity, what are the specs on your Mac, what OS, and which version of FCP?

FCP 7. 2x 2.4ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon Processors. 12gb Ram. 2x Radeon HD 5770's.

So once I exported it as video, I tried to apply star transitions at key points, and now it doesn't even play back the transition, it just skips past it like it's not applied.

Gonna keep messing around, so far no luck. Worst scenario I'll either keep the zoom w/o transitions or keep transitions w/o zoom.
