GH4 Using the top dail to instantly change ISO

Hey guys,

A lot of people are using a speedbooster in combination with their GH4, myself included.
In this configuration the aperture control doesn't work with the Nikon version because it just isn''t active.
Because of this, i thought it would be nice to put the ISO control directly onto this top weel. (without having to push the ISO button at the same time)
I've searched the menu, but can't find a way to do this. There are a couple of things you can change in regard to the control dails but the thing i trie to do just doesn't seem to be available. Or am I just really missing something here? :P

I don't believe there is a way you can do that. That dial is setup to only adjust what other configurations allow it to. By putting the ISO button up on top, made ISO adjustment a lot simpler than it used to be on previous models. Allowing ISO function to be moved to a dial that is primarily intended for aperture adjustment would complicate things in a way most of us would not appreciate.

The GH4 is designed first and foremost to work most efficiently with "native" lenses. The speedbooster and it's copies are all "3rd party" stuff and not PRIMARILY intended to be supported.

Hey guys,

What brand speedboster are you using? Does your Nikon have electronic shutter control or manual? I ask because I use the RJ Lens Turbo and one thing I didn't notice right away was that there is a ring on the side of the speedbooster that can control the aperture of my lenses (Nikkor AI-S Manual).

While holding the camera as you would for stills, turning the dial to the right allows full control of the iris on the lens. Turning it to the left opens the lens to full no matter where the iris ring is set on the lens. It came turned to the right so I had no issues but I must have turned it accidentally while switching lenses and couldn't stop down until I noticed the ring was adjustable.

I am not sure if all of the speedboosters have this but I thought I would mention it just in case you were having the same issue and didn't know.

@Bruce, you are right about the third party element of the Speedbooster. Though I think when a product sells as good as it does, partially because of these third party additions, additional functions like these would be nice. Plus I wouldn't find it any more complicated as long as the default settings are just set-up like they are intended (to control the aperture). I've requested this feature, so maybe they will look into it.

@Cole, I know about the aperture ring on the speedbooster. This works perfectly fine with the declicked aperture. The question was solely regarding the direct functionality of the top dail. Direct acces to whitebalance or iso settings would be nice I think ;)

Uh, it doesn't matter if the lens has a de-clicked aperture ring or not, you're turning the ring on the Speedbooster, which should be clickless.

Funnily enough, what you want is available on the Olympus cameras...
