using the ND filter?

I always get much grain/noise in gray/shadow areas filming on sunny days. >:( Tried changing different parameters in setup. But didn't really help. I would like to know whether it would help if I shoot at a higher shutter speed and do not use the built-in ND filter. I get the feeling that noise will be reduced if more light is sensed by the CCD. Am I correct? ???

Re: using the ND filter?

Why don't you just open up a little more? I've never been in a situation where if the ND filter made things too dark, I couldn't just either open up more or turn off the filter and close the aperture. You shouldn't have to use a high shutter speed, and if you do, your stuff is going to have that high-shutter-speedy look.

85b filter and 3200K white balance.

Closing the aperature lowers the light entering the camera, too.....

Hey Policar, any chance you can post some raw grabs using the 85b? I'm curious to see them. I used an 85b when I was shooting Super 8....haven't tried it on the DVX
